Chest that is. It all started one afternoon when we were heading to the bank to open her personal account, and browse the used furniture section in a resale shop we like to frequent. Side note: my current sofa is setting up on concrete blocks and was a gift from my father in law, almost eight years ago... he paid fifteen bucks for it then. One day soon we will have to replace that couch.
So back to the girl with a treasure. After we went couch hope-ing we decided to go to the antique shop to browse some more, we were in a browsing mood I guess...
And there it was.
Her hope chest, dream chest or treasure chest... depending on the day.
She bought it. With her hard earned savings. Right then and there.
It just needed a little love. Like all of us.
We rangled the trunk home and She went about dreaming on how to work it over a little at a time.
Beginning with the inset tray...
In my opinion it looks wonderful... She chose a great contrasting pattern and it kind of gives it a french vintage look, which she adores.
On the way out the door She spotted another treasure, a treadle sewing machine and yes, she wisely purchased that too, with plans to restore it to full use. We will keep you updated on the progress as it happens... and we eventually made it to the bank for her business.
