Balm :: Spice for Life ~ Warming Salve

Personally, I use this on my wrists after a few hours of knitting, my husband uses it for his stiff neck and shoulders. This salve can be used for any number of reasons... however it is not suited for young children, babies, mucus membranes or the eyes and mouth.

About the ingredients:

Cayenne: used both in natural remedies and the culinary arts, known for kicking up the heat and getting the blood circulating. It's also an beloved analgesic and is often used topically for pain relief. Capsaicin (a key ingredient in cayenne) stimulates and a little goes a long, long way.

Ginger: carries a proteolytic enzyme that has been shown to reduce inflammation, most often recognized however for it's amazing effects on upset tummies. Another natural resource for stimulating circulation.

Arnica: analgesic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory properties. Arnica is used for bruises, muscle and joints concerns and should not be used on broken skin.

Tumeric: anti-inflammatory, pungent warming herb, often used in cooking – but is currently on the health forefront thanks to it's many other benenfits.

St. John's Wort: anti-inflammatory, soothing for bruises and pain relief. Please note this herb also may cause photo sensitivity so be mindful of salve use and full sun exposure.

Calendula: antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and one of my favorite herbs! Stimulates lymphatic drainage and is an all around joy to work with.

About the essential oils: I choose high quality pure essential oils for all of my products and for all of the uses within our home.

Wintergreen: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic – not intended for internal use
Peppermint: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, nervine
Clove: analgesic – can cause skin sensitivity in high concentrated amounts
Eucalyptus: anti-inflammatory – not suitable for very young children

Thoughts from Family Word - 2014

Okay so - this past year has been full.

It's been beautiful, amazing, difficult, blessed and exciting all rolled into one.

Our family word for 2014 was Steadfast, meaning: resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering...

You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Yeshua Messiah. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.  {2 Peter 3:17 & 18}

When my husband and I chose this word - we were in the waiting position, you see there was a hearts desire laid within us a few years ago and we kept praying for it to come to fruition. Some season's it felt like we prayed for days... months... and yes, even years. Some season's those prayers weren't always being lifted up on high, even though the desire never went away. Finally in the third year of our waiting, we cried out to YHVH wanting confirmation for this “heart burn” - because by the summer of the third year I beginning to question. However, I knew that if “this thing” truly was from the Almighty doubting was not good, and if it wasn't truly from Almighty then what I had here within me is a heart idol. Which isn't good either.

Long story made shorter, YHVH confirmed that hearts desire within my husband and I, and He did it HIS way... not mine. He provided for my husband to serve in the Land of Israel, moved our family roughly 1500 miles from the place we had called home for eight years. He provided a home, a place to rest our spirits and watered them, a job for my husband when he returned from his trip. He also released our family of almost $19,000.00 of debt. Truly!

You see, this “thing” we knew within our entire being, well... to many it doesn't seem logical. It looks crazy. Odd. Peculiar. To most, the fact that my husband left a good, steady job... making almost forty nine thousand a year to his now making less than half that. Sounds CRAZY! To most, the fact that he moved his family from a two bedroom house with a huge backyard and chickens to a thirty foot camper, sounds rather ODD. But I truly know, um - I firmly know, that because my husband took that step of faith when YHVH opened that door... when Steve didn't listen to the words of others doubting this “thing”... and because he obeyed the Word and the Hand of the Almighty... well you have read what El has done. Yah is the one who is steadfast, unwavering and just thinking about these last five months brings heart sobs.

And we are still being 'awed'... and humbled. We also know that this season is not over, there will be required of us some increased responsibility and faithfulness I am sure. May we continue to walk by the Spirit and Truth, to trust in His promises! Remaining Faithful.

Faithfulness/Emunah - thus being our family word for 2015.
Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength. {Isaiah 26:2-4}
